Roadway Widening and Realignment - Armstrong County - The project consisted of widening and realignment of a section of S.R. 0028, known locally as the Goheenville Dip. The alignment modifications included both horizontal and vertical adjustments. The project also included three structure replacements; a box culvert, a pipe culvert, and a two-span (240’ overall span) continuous prestressed concrete PA Bulb-Tee Bridge carrying S.R. 0028 over Laurel Run. Traffic control, due to the grade changes, was a critical design element for this corridor improvement project.

S.R. 2066, Section 152 is located in Parks Township, Armstrong County. The project consisted of the replacement of the existing reinforced concrete arch culvert that carries S.R. 2066 over Stitts Run with a Reinforced Concrete Precast Box Culvert. The proposed horizontal and vertical alignments matched existing. Minimal roadway approach work was included for approximately 100 feet on the western approach and 300 feet on the eastern approach.  A short term detour was utilized during the culvert replacement along with accelerated construction techniques.  Single lane traffic was maintained via temporary traffic signals to complete the remaining roadway work once the culvert was completed.
