Project Letting - March 2017

Russell Bridge Replacement - This project included the replacement of the single span through-truss carrying S.R. 1012 over Conewango Creek with a two-span (219’-4” overall span) prestressed concrete bulb-tee bridge. The bridge detailing included a sidewalk with a precast concrete overlook at midspan. Portions of the original cut stone abutments were maintained and the architectural surface treatment pattern was specified to match the original stone. The project also included 970’ of approach roadway construction.

Traffic Signal Design - This project included the construction, timing, and coordination of nine (9) traffic signals in the city of Warren downtown area. The design included a closed loop system, with computer hardware, decorative signal poles and arms, a pole foundation into a building basement under the sidewalk, and replacement of heated sidewalks.

Meadville Interchange Reconstruction Project - Originally a teaming effort with the District 1-0 Design Unit performing the roadway design with the SPK team performing all the structure design activities, evolved into a roadway design-build contract that was prepared by SPK. The design-build package included the final design plans for the mainline bridges (two (2) - 223’ single-span steel plate girder bridges), extension and/or repair of three (3) concrete box culverts, eight (8) overhead sign structures, and the approved Design Field View plans for the mainline and ramp reconstruction. The project also included water quality features in the in-fields that were coordinated and designed by the Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED) in cooperation with Allegheny College. The project was closely coordinated with the District who performed the Line & Grade Studies and was delivered in less than twelve (12) months.
